What to Pack when Traveling to Belize:

SPF Clothing: no matter if you are cast fishing, or fly fishing or just spending time on a kayak or paddle board you will benefit from protective clothing. A buff is great for fishing.

What to Pack When Traveling To Belize

Sunscreen:  the higher SPF the better, but pack plenty. If you are spending time in the water, you may want to consider the new reef safe sunscreens on the market.

Bug Spray with DEET:  I packed the natural bug spray and let me tell you I was eaten up. Just be sure to take a shower before heading to bed.

Walking Shoes such as Chacos or Gym Shoes:  There are paths along the beaches but there is also a lot of construction and pebbles that we recommend comfortable shoes for a stroll along the beach or a bike ride into town.

COOZIES:  Want to keep your beers cold, this is a must. Whether on the boat or enjoying a beer eating al fresco the beer gets warm quickly.

Probiotic:  We recommend taking a probiotic at least a week before you travel and take them with you. Whenever you travel your stomach gets a little crazy, but you are going to Central America. Only drink bottled water and check with the hotel about brushing your teeth with the faucet water…..

Underwater Camera:  Belize has the second largest Barrier Reef. We swam with Nurse sharks, saw a loggerhead turtle and while I will always have these memories in my head, I wish I had a chance to capture a photo.

Snorkeling and or Diving Equipment: If you have your own there are plenty of opportunities to use them. You can easily rent gear, but my husband was much happier with his own.

Fishing Equipment:  Including a pair of white socks if you plan on going barefoot….saves your feet from sunburn

Cash:  Most resorts will take credit cards, but you will need American Dollars to tip your excursion/ fishing guide, to pay the Park Rangers for entry into snorkeling areas and any other small purchases that you may not want to risk getting any foreign transaction fees from your credit cards.

Medications/ First Aid Items:  While you can go into San Pedro and shop at a Pharmacy, you may want to pack a small supply of any medications you might need such as Tylenol, Aleve and allergy mediations.

This is a very basic list, but maybe this will help you on your next adventure to Belize. Please comment with any other packing items you found helpful.
