We only had a few minutes to explore the strip but if you want to show your children some cultural things like ethnic markets and small shops and restaurants take a few minutes to stroll along Pittsburgh’s Strip District. This is where you can also find many booths selling Pittsburgh Team Gear.

3. Bike Pittsburgh! Pittsburgh in recent years has become incredibly bike friendly. There are plenty of trails, especially along the riverfront,  and bike rentals around the city. If anything you can explore the hundreds of murals found around the city.

5. Kennywood Amusement Park  Take a step back in time at this historic amusement park. While it continues to add more modern steel rollercoasters, you will find the classic rides and many wooden ones as well. The park is small enough to enjoy it in a few hours but there is plenty to do for all ages. They will soon be opening a Thomas the Train Area which will attract the younger crowd.

6. Carnegie Science Center is a blast with kids of any age. Not many places are located right on the water that you can explore an actual submarine. You will also find an Imax theater, a robot display, a model train display and so many fun activities you will easily lose track of time. Also if you are visiting before January 2019, be sure to visit The Art of The Brick. It is an amazing art display all in LEGOS. The beginning of the exhibit is hands-off, but anxious brick builders can test themselves in the interactive room following the exhibit.

7. Carnegie Museum of Natural History. You are never too old to explore a museum and kids learn things without even knowing it. If you love dinos, then the Carnegie Museum of Natural History should be number one on your list. They have an extensive display of artifacts and rooms that any age will find something interesting. We had a docent take us around the museum and it was amazing. You can spend the day or just a few hours, it just depends on your itinerary. The kids in our group found the gem room super interesting too. Be sure to look around because there is always a place for changing art, meaning modern times means modern art.
